Happy Independence Day!

This weekend, as we fire up the grills and the sparklers (and some pyrotechnic contraband, depending on where you live), we also fan the flames of patriotism and of brotherhood, knowing that despite our differences of opinion in politics, the flames in our bellies are unending and conceived in the spirit of the unity of all voices.

*I realize if you're not an American this day is as meaningful as Thanksgiving. I remember spending one July 4th in Japan, lighting off fireworks intended for Tanabata, a children's festival about the same time, in a gravel lot with a Scottish lass and an Aussie hot-librarian type. They humored me, I think, because they sensed it was important to me, and remained supportive until a lone Japanese teen in black, a fan of the band Slipknot he said, imposed himself on our little pity-the-lost-American party. He picked up a firework I'd just lit—a real nasty looking one—and sprayed the area as if holding an Uzi, shouting, "I like destroy!" as we ducked for cover. He said he also loved America, so go figure. Point is, it's just another Friday for you, but for us it's sacred. Bear with us until we get it out of our system, which is probably never, God bless America.

New IW.com Updates + PC Fixes in the Works

We’re making great progress on the new Infinityward.com. A mock-up of what the front page will look like above, all the pictures and text are just temporary filler at the moment while we work on design and backend functionality. The new site will take the place of Charlieoscardelta.com and the current Infinityward.com when we’re done, but don’t expect to see it live for a while. Next week I’m going to be working on the actual content on the site and moving it all over, populating the pages with actual info / media. Meanwhile we’ll be working on building out the forum and online store. Then we’ll go live with it.

That said, we’re finalizing the T-shirt designs and getting hi-res versions of all of them to the printers for production. I won’t spoil the surprise of which ones we’re printing just yet, I’ll save that for when the store goes live, but still continue to give us feedback on which ones you like as we’ll also be looking to make more.

PC Cheat Exploit Fix In The Works

I also wanted to note for our PC players, we’re currently working on a fix for the PC cheat exploit that many of you reported to us after the 1.6 patch. Thanks to everyone for their quick response in getting us information on it. The programmers are currently addressing it and I’ll update you when you can expect the fix to hit servers as soon as I know.

These are the 4 maps released in the v1.6 patch and are available for anyone to use as a reference or for tactical planning. All maps are clear and detailed, hope you enjoy them.

After playing these maps I am almost certain at least one or two of these maps will quickly become one of every COD4 gamers favorite maps. New Call of Duty 4 T-shirt Concepts - Help Us Choose

We’ve been working on some new Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare merchandise for the upcoming new online store that will launch with the new Infinityward.com we’re currently designing. However, we’re having a little trouble deciding exactly which t-shirt designs we want to get printed, so I thought we’d let you guys decide for us.

So here’s the deal. Below are every T-shirt design we came up with. Now we don’t plan on printing ALL of them, so we need your help in deciding which ones everyone actually would like to have or wear. Some we LOVE and will definitely print regardless, but this will help us cut the least popular ones.

How can you vote? Just leave in the comment section which ones you like and want to see printed. To make it easier, pick your top 5 favorite designs and leave it in the comments, like this:

Variety Map Pack sponsored by NVIDIA hits PC JUNE 5th

Great news! Heads up that the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Pack sponsored by NVIDIA will be available worldwide for our PC players next week on June 5th! NVIDIA is making it possible for PC players to download the map pack for Free on the PC thanks to their sponsorship. In addition, expect to see quite a few promotions popping up leading up to the launch of the map packs on the 5th and beyond. I know NVIDIA has a lot of great things planned for PC users in addition to maps becoming available. There’s going to be some PC specific previews going up online this weekend I believe that will cover how well the maps play on the PC version as well as some contests and promotions happening all next week. I’ll be posting up details on them as they get started all this week! The Variety Map Pack includes four new maps for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer including Broadcast, Chinatown, Killhouse, and Creek. In addition to the map pack hitting, PC Players will be receiving the 1.6 Patch for the PC version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that will add support for the new maps, fix a server crash exploit recently reported by the community, and a few additional features / bug fixes. I will post a full patch notes list next week.

Recruiting COD4 Players!!!

We're currently recruiting new players for Call of Duty 4. (COD4)

Over the past year a few of us have been gaming together in several FPS games such as BF2 and COD4. We have decided to officially reform as a gaming community and participate ASAP in competition ladders with the COD4 simulation. If your a former AFD member who has been idle and would like to participate, or even someone who is new to COD4 or been playing and would like to play as a team in a structured environment please send us your information letting us know your interested.

AFD is a group of mature adult gamers who currently reside in the United States & Canada, we base our schedules on Eastern Standard Time EST so please be sure before joining that you would be available in the evenings between 8pm - 11pm EST. We are flexible and will work around the majority's schedule when it comes to practice and competition ladder matches. We also realize as adults that there are times when real life activities interfere with our abilities to participate. If you have considered joining a team and elevating your gaming experience but didn't want to be involved with immature people, or strict "be here every night for practice or be booted" policies some of the teams have then perhaps this is your opportunity to join a first class gaming community who takes gaming seriously, but realizes real life comes first.

We have a TeamSpeak voice server and dedicated COD4 server currently, although we have every intention of adding additional servers as the need arises. We offer available, and encourage the use of our "members only" as well as public forums located in our website. We have years of stability and our core members sincerely believe in leading by example and listening to the "team" rather then dictating or bossing anyone around.

Come join the (AFD) Assault Force Dragons team and together we'll make a strong presence in the COD4 gaming communities. There is plenty of opportunity for advancement and many leadership positions available for the right individuals.

Q: Tell us a little bit about Bad Company?
A: Battlefield: Bad CompanyÃ¢â��Â¢ is the upcoming next-gen installment of the Battlefield series, coming on Xbox 360 and PS3. ItÃ¢â�¬â�¢s also the first Battlefield game to feature a deep storyline and character driven single player experience in addition to a solid multiplayer. In BFBC you follow a squad of renegade soldiers on their adventure within a war, chasing their own personal ambitions and fighting anything that gets in their way.
Q: How do you think the Frostbite engine will change online gameplay?
A: The power of the Frostbite engine enables us to do many things, but the most important one is the amount of destruction that we can incorporate in the game. 90% of the environment will be destroyable - not withstanding the aesthetic results, the Frostbite engine will give our players more flexibility within their play styles. The fine granularity of the destruction will enable our players to change the way they play the game, to use the destruction tactically in their second-to-second gameplay. E.g. donÃ¢â�¬â�¢t walk around a house if you canÃ¢â�¬â�¢t find an entrance, just use the rifle grenade to create your own way in. Or, donÃ¢â�¬â�¢t follow the roads, use the heavy vehicles to simply drive through the forest and mow down all the trees and vegetation.

Final Battlefield 2 Highway Tampa Released

Get those tank shells loaded and treads rolling.

Following a successful beta, the final version of Highway Tampa for Battlefield 2 is now ready to roll out. DICE, along with our update partner Intel, created this new map focused on tank battles that echo those of Battlefield 1942. Exploding shells ring out across the desert as tank columns meet in furious battle amidst the swirling sands.

Tweaks since the beta version include more infantry cover to help them hold onto flags, improved jeep spawning to better prevent stranded infantry and a number of glitch fixes. We wish to thank the Battlefield community for all the time they put in playing the map and posting feedback to the forums. We're sure you'll enjoy the epic vehicular warfare in this new map.

We are Recruiting BF2 Players!

We are currently seeking mature gamers interested in playing Battlefield 2. We have been idle in the competition end of gaming for a little more then a year and would like to build a strong team of players dedicated to the team. We have a ranked server and have intentions of purchasing a dedicated server as well so the skies the limits as far as what we can load/play in the future. We're seeking individuals who enjoy playing FPS games and are mature. We are an adult gaming team and while we do not have specific "age limits" we insist every member maintains our code of conduct and follow our Rules & Regulations. We have a rank system in place, however there is no dictators within AFD. We offer the right individuals 24/7 TeamSpeak voice coms, Battlefield 2 Ranked Server, and a fun atmosphere among friends.
